The warranty absolutely does not cover accidental damage, and no one should imagine that it does. You were extremely lucky, Daniel - you got a gift screen from Apple. My memory board went out 3 weeks later and that also was promptly fixed. My mbp 15 was covered on the same issue and Apple replaced it, bottom cover, logic board, ODD superdrive and fan at no cost. Depending which person writes up the repair order at an Apple store the warranty (if still valid) may cover the repairs.

Contact your nearest Apple Store or authorized service provider for an estimate. Only Apple can tell you exactly how much, and this is just a user-to-user forum, not Apple. Thanks in advance, Rory No, it isn't covered by your warranty, and yes, it will cost a lot to replace the screen assembly.

I've heard its a lot (250-900$), is this true? and is there others i can go to to fix it cheaper? I live in Australia NSW, and my mac is still under warranty. Just wondering if this is covered by my warranty? If not, how much will i have to pay. Just today a jar fell onto my Macbook pro and cracked my screen. We provide a 180 day warranty with most repairs.
